Drop Bags<\/summary>\n
Bags are able to be dropped at Mannus Lake AS, Henry Angel AS, and Paddy\u2019s Dam AS for the 100 km event, and Mannus Lake AS for the 50km event. There are no drop bag check points for the 22 km, but runners can take a bag to the start line which will be transported back to the finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Drop bags must be clearly labelled with name, bib number and aid station and can be dropped off at registration either Friday night or Saturday morning before 5:30 am. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Drop Bags will not be transported back to the finish line from each Aid Station until the last runner has passed through. The organisers will not be responsible for returning any drop bags (and their contents) to runners if they are unclaimed at the finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We suggest choosing robust, easily distinguishable bags and packing their contents protected in leak proof and durable containers, as they will be stacked and tossed about during transport. Grocery store cooler bags are popular, we suggest adding distinguishing features to make yours easier to spot.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\nPacers and Unofficial Runners<\/summary>\nPacers are permitted for the 100km distance only with prior approval from Race Director, and only from Paddys Dam to the finish (70km- 100km). No unofficial runners are permitted in the Hume & Hovell Ultra. Any identified unofficial runners will be prevented from entering in the future. If you’d like to run the course without paying an entry fee, please volunteer to sweep or course mark for us instead.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\nWeather <\/summary>\nThe Hume & Hovell Ultra Track is remote and at times is over 1400 meters in height for the 100km distance. In October, a range of weather conditions is possible, including both hot days and icy temperatures. Mandatory gear is mandatory and must be carried for worst case scenarios, but please consider your intended pace and comfort when choosing what other items might be appropriate on race day.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\nPregnancy Policy<\/summary>\nRunners are eligible for a full refund if they do not want to race during a pregnancy or postpartum period, or while recovering from a miscarriage. This policy extends to both the pregnant athlete, their partner and\/or surrogate.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\nWithdrawals and Transfers<\/summary>\nWe know that unexpected things arise in life and in training. If you register for an event and are then unable to attend, the following options apply:<\/p>\n\n\n \n- \nDefer – <\/strong>This allows the runner to defer to the same event, same distance the following year at no cost. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
- \nTransfer – <\/strong>Entry can be transferred to another runner for an administration cost of $20. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
- \nChange – <\/strong>Runners can change to a different distance, and must pay the difference in entry fee if the new event is more costly. No charge or refund is offered for a change from a longer to a shorter distance. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
- \nRefund- <\/strong>Entry can be refunded as follows:
\n- Until 30 May – 75% refund<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Until 30 July – 50% refund<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Until 30 Sep – 25% refund<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- No refunds are available after 30 Sep<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n
Postponement or Cancellation<\/span><\/summary>\nIt is possible that some unforeseen emergency, such as, but not limited to, a bushfire, floods, or unforeseen track damage etc might prevent the Hume & Hovell Ultra proceeding. There will be NO Entry Fee refunds to any entrant if the event is cancelled and \/or significant parts of the course become inaccessible at the direction of empowered Authorities in the two weeks leading up to and including the event.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\nHazards<\/span><\/summary>\nAnimals<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\nVenomous snakes and spiders do inhabit the country through which the Hume & Hovell Ultra passes, however they are rarely seen. Nevertheless, Runners need to make themselves aware of the appropriate treatment for snake and spider bites. Caution is required when approaching brumbies or kangaroos, they may get spooked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Trail Conditions<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\nEntrants must cope with rough trail surfaces, precipitous ascents and descents, mud, creek crossings, and slippery rocks and roots. In some places Runners will need to walk because of the nature of the trail. These conditions may change due to extreme weather conditions close to the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Water Crossings<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\nMost water crossings have been bridged, but caution must be taken when crossing streams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Navigation<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\nAlthough the Hume & Hovell Ultra is marked for its entire length, the markers are sometimes hard to see and could be missed at running speed. Great care needs to be exercised in following the course and all runners are advised to carefully follow their progress on the detailed maps and detailed directions which are available on the race website. If you believe at any time that you may not be on the correct course, do not attempt to find your way cross country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you are unsure of your route, backtrack to where you last saw a course marker and try to find other markers showing the direction of the course. If you do become injured, exhausted or ill, STAY ON THE TRAIL. You will be found there either by another runner or by the sweeper. If you feel dizzy, disorientated or confused, do not risk falling.
