It starts at Cooma Cottage near Yass and finishes at the Hovell Tree in Albury, some 440 km in length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event starts and finishes at Henry Angel Trackhead, some 9km south of Tumbarumba on the Tooma Road. The track is a mixture of constructed walking track and fire trails. The highest point is over 1200 metres in elevation, with many scenic natural attractions along the course including Buddong Falls, Paddys River Dam, alpine snow gums, and Mannus Lake.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"event-history\">Event History<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event was established by members of Wagga Wagga Road Runners, with Peter Fitzpatrick serving as the Event Director from 2012-2024. In 2025, the event was handed over to members of the Tumut Trotters Running Group. The event is supported by the Australian Ultra and Trail Runners Association Inc (AUTRA).<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"public-authorities\">Public authorities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conduct of the Hume &amp; Hovell &nbsp;Ultra is dependent on the cooperation of a number of public authorities including Department of Industry\/Lands, &nbsp;Forestry Corporation, NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW Police, Snowy Valley\u2019s Council,&nbsp; NSW National Parks and Wildlife and Wagga Amateur Radio Club.&nbsp;&nbsp;Event organisers are grateful to these organisations for their cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to gain their approval, a number of their requirements have been incorporated in the Rules for the Hume &amp; Hovell Ultra. All runners and their support crews must abide by the Rules of the Hume &amp; Hovell Ultra as specified in the Runners Manual and must obey any lawful directions given by authorised members of the above organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"race-organisation\">Race Organisation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This race relies on the support of and adherence to guidelines specified by the Public Authorities. The&nbsp; Event Organisers and Event Director, Jordan Maki-Richards, can be contacted with any concerns or questions regarding the organisation of Hume &amp; Hovell Ultra prior to and during the course of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jordan \u2013&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:humeandhovellultra@gmail.com\">humeandhovellultra@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"volunteers\">Volunteers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Volunteers are the greatest asset of the Hume and Hovell Ultra. The success of this event is dependent on the help of many community groups and volunteers. Volunteers must be treated with respect at all times.
